The Beloved Community for Engaged Spirituality with Adam Bucko and Kaira Jewel Lingo.
We will begin by coming together for our yearly examen and shared practice on Zoom. This will be a time to look back on the past year with honesty and tenderness, acknowledging moments of gratitude and blessing, times when the sacred felt near and alive in our lives, as well as experiences of alienation, loneliness, and the loss of hope. Together, we’ll listen deeply for what wants to be born in us now: the qualities we feel called to cultivate in the coming year, the way we want to show up in the world, and the kind of support and courage we need to do so faithfully.
We will gather monthly from January through June, on Saturdays from 11-12:30pm ET, for teachings and shared practice. The dates of our gatherings for the first half of 2026 are:
Jan 24, Yearly Examen Practice
Feb 28,
March 28,
April 25,
No gathering in May,
and June 13
These gatherings will include guest teachers and conversations that draw from the lives and wisdom of the saints of the beloved community—those whose lives remind us that even in difficult and violent times, groundedness, courage, and a spacious vision are possible. Their witness helps us remember that oppression and cruelty never have the final word.
We also want to share another significant development. Beginning in September 2026, we plan to launch a more robust schedule of learning and practice opportunities within the Beloved Community for Engaged Spirituality, our fledgling organization. This offering will be rooted in Buddhist and Christian contemplative traditions, and earth-based practice, shaped by the lives of saints and bodhisattvas who embodied compassion, courage, and faithfulness in their own time—and who can still guide us today. We will offer a membership-based community to deepen and grow together, and folks will still be able to drop in or attend single sessions if they prefer.
Starting in September, the community of practice will include a weekly meditation on a weekday, a monthly gathering with meditation and teaching on a Saturday morning, and a monthly gathering for questions, shared reflection, and connection. In addition, we intend to offer one online retreat and one in-person retreat each year.
Our hope is that this community can become a place that holds us, strengthens us, and helps us stay awake to love in a world where compassion too often feels fragile. We trust that practices rooted in contemplation, honesty, and shared responsibility can help us remain human and faithful in these times.
We’re grateful for each of you, and for the ways our paths continue to intersect. More details will be coming soon, and we look forward to being together again.
